Chinese Tui-Na Massage. |
|
|
|
|
Massage is one of the essential foundations of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Tui
Na, literally "Push Grab," has been practiced by Chinese martial artists, Qigong
practitioners and healers for thousands of years. Specializing in injury repair
and curing illness, Tui Na massage can also maintain your health by adjusting
your Qi in order to flow smoothly. It will increase your Qi and blood
circulation in particular areas or throughout your entire body, removing
blockages and stagnations caused by injuries, exercise and/or aging. Tui Na
massage is also a wonderful way to relieve stress and recover from a hard day on
the job or a tough workout.

Deep Tissue Manipulation. |
|
|
|
| |
Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to
release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and
deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across
the fibers of the muscles, tendons and fascia.
Deep tissue massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower
strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of
the muscles not with the grain. It usually focuses on more specific areas and
may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the
massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two. |

Indian Head Massage. |
|
|
|
| |
An Indian Head Massage generally starts with the client sitting in a comfortable
chair for the duration of the massage.
Treatment normally begins with a deep kneading and probing of the neck and
shoulder muscles. At times similar to Osteopathy but with no crunching or
cracking of joints. The head is then worked with the scalp being squeezed,
rubbed, gently tapped and prodded. The hair is briskly tussled and gently
combed.
Pressure points are gently worked on and the ears are tugged and pressed. Lastly
the practitioner moves to the face, working with acupressure points to help
relieve any sinus pressure, stimulate the circulation and increase alertness.
The face is also very gently stroked. |

• Therapeutic
Massage . |
|
|
|
| |
Therapeutic massage is the manipulation of the soft tissue of whole body areas
to bring about generalised improvements in health, such as relaxation or
improved sleep, or specific physical benefits, such as relief of muscular aches
and pains.
Almost all cultures have developed systems of therapeutic massage. Massage
techniques play an important part in traditional Chinese and Indian medical
care. European massage was systematised in the early 18th century by Per Hendrik
Ling, who developed what is now known as Swedish massage.
Ling believed that vigorous massage could bring about healing by improving the
circulation of the blood and lymph. In the past 20-30 years complementary
therapists have adapted Swedish massage so as to place greater emphasis on the
psychological and spiritual aspects of treatment. Benefits of massage are now
described more in terms such as "calmness" or "wholeness" than in terms of
loosening stiff joints or improving blood flow. In contrast to the vigorous and
standardised treatment recommended by Ling, current massage techniques are more
gentle, calming, flowing, and intuitive. |

• Shiatsu. |
|
|
|
| |
Shiatsu is a traditional hands-on Japanese healing art. It can help in a wide
range of conditions - from specific injuries to more general symptoms of poor
health. Shiatsu is a deeply relaxing experience and regular Shiatsu sessions
help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives.
Common conditions which can be helped by Shiatsu include: back pain, headaches,
migraines, whiplash injuries and neck stiffness, joint pain and reduced
mobility, menstrual problems, digestive problems, asthmatic symptoms, sports
injuries, depression & stress.
The philosophy underlying Shiatsu is that vital energy (known as Ki in Japanese)
flows throughout the body in a series of channels called meridians. For many
different reasons Ki can stop flowing freely and this then produces a symptom.
Your Shiatsu practitioner will consider your state of health, the symptoms you
are experiencing and, depending on your constitution and general energy levels,
will use a variety of techniques to improve your energy flow. These may include
gentle holding, pressing with palms, thumbs, fingers, elbows, knees and feet on
the meridians and, when appropriate, more dynamic rotations and stretches.
As the quality of Ki changes, the symptoms associated with a lack of flow will
gradually improve. Shiatsu is a therapy that works on the individual as a
complete being - not just the physical body but also on an emotional and/or
mental level. |

Sports & Remedial Therapy. |
|
|
|
| |
Taking part in any physical activity uses most muscles in the human body just to
perform the simplest of techniques such as a pass in football, shot in
badminton, row in sailing etc. Forces placed on these muscles are phenominal and
undoubtedly create stresses in the tendons, ligaments and muscles themselves.
Remedial massage is an extremely effective treatment for a wide variety of
musculoskeletal problems. Sports Massage can effectively boost athletic
performance, prevent injuries and speed recovery after an athletic event. While
many professional athletes use Sports Massage, it can help anyone who wishes to
use their body at its maximum efficiency. Many individuals use Sports Massage to
reduce or eliminate muscle spasms, tendonitis, muscle fatigue and post-event
soreness.
